Take to the skies

Ezmerelda

I sat curled up in a ball. I was so bored, and there was nothing to do. I summoned a small bead of my light magic and watched sparks dance in front of my snout. Yawning, I stood up and stretched myself out, the sparks giving a small POP before fizzing out. I looked around, and saw no one. It could get lonely sometimes, living in spacious fields atop a vast mountain range. But it was worth living in isolation, to watch the sun rise every morning, bringing with it wonderous early dawn light. I flexed my wings and shook myself off, wandering slowly to a small creek. I bent my snout and took a gulp of water. I wasn't thirsty, but it was better than doing nothing. A cool breeze blew in and lifted my wings away from my body for a second. Meh, what the heck. I opened my wings and sprang upwards, launching myself into the air. With a downward stroke, I pushed myself higher, climbing into the sky. I lazily cruised over the fields, every now and then sending bolts of lightning down just because I could. I pointed my head upwards and pushed with my wings, four beats, five, six. I stopped flapping once I was up in the clouds. Static electricity crackled around my body, and I soaked it all up. I had enough elemental light magic to produce electrical storms all week, but I loved the feeling of natural electricity coursing through my veins. My deep blue eyes danced, and I closed my wings and plummeted down towards the earth. I was so free! I swirled and twirled, not paying attention to where I was going. I wished there was someone to fly with me. I let the energy from the clouds flick off from the end of my tail, creating a small fireworks show in the sky. Eventually I made my way back to the Light Fields, and settled down once again, my talons giving a click as they touched back down again. Well. That was fun. I padded softly to my favourite vantage point and curled up, looking out over the rest of the world. Every time I saw someone - a dragon, a rabbit, a bird- I shot a small rod of electricity down to sizzle next to them. I loved watching them jump. I giggled, watching a fox run for cover. I could just imagine my mother's sing song voice in my head:
"Ezmerelda! Don't torment the poor dears!"
And I'd laugh, my eyes twinkling. I knew it amused her too. Always the same; me annoying someone, Mother telling me off, and my automatic comeback:
"I'm not gonna actually fry them."
I missed my mother. I missed my sisters. I missed everyone. I curled my tail around me tighter, and sighed. Flicking sparks at others wasn't as fun when it wasn't an act of rebellion.

Being the mischevious dragon that I am, I left the caves to come and take a look around. I had got lost halfway through until I saw some caves that looked like my own. I quickly ran over to them, feeling excited, only to find out that it wasn't my caves. It was the light caves. Oh well, it'll do for tonight, I thought to myself, silently as I walked over to them.

The light caves were much prettier than my caves. They were almost as pretty as the young dragon inside them. Feeling lonely once again, I decided to accidently on purpose stumble into her cave.

"Hello," I said, "I am Jertinus, what is your name?"

I was finding it extremely hard to hold in a grin as I looked at the pretty dragon but I just managed to keep it in and look like a proper dragon.

I heard something, and cocked my head to the side. When a huge dragon walked in, I leapt to my feet. I'd never seen him before, and that made me nervous. I didn't know if he wanted to harm me, so I held onto my magic, not letting it show but getting ready to use it if I had to. He introduced himself, and I relaxed. "Hi!" I chittered to him. "I'm Ezmerelda...Uh, Ezzy!" I cocked my head to the side again and looked closely at him. He was far bigger than any of the Light Dragons around here, and even bigger than the Energy Dragons that sometimes flitted around. I studied him even more, my sharp eyes taking in all his features in an instant. I decided he must be an Earth Dragon, even though he wasn't like one I'd ever seen. He was dark, dark black, and much bigger than I remembered them. But still, someone else to talk to was finally here, and I wouldn't judge. "I haven't seen you around before, where do you come from?" I asked. I lay back on the ground, I couldn't be bothered standing if I didn't need to. I gestured with one talon for him to do the same, but I wasn't sure if he would.

I smiled at her gesture and sat down letting of a hint of a grin.

"Yes, I've come from the forest caves," I explained, "I came to have a look around but I got lost, I was wondering if I would be able to sleep here for tonight so I can refresh my energy and carry on tomorrow,"

I knew that I wasn't just wanting to sleep now, I also wanted to learn more about this pretty dragon.

I grinned back at Jertinus. "Wow, the forest caves. What are they like?" I asked excitedly. I'd never been outside of the Light Fields for more than a day before, and I was always curious about new places. "Of course you can sleep here!" I said to him. "It's not like there's anyone else up here." For some reason, I felt a strange feeling in my gut. I realised that it was disappointment; I'd just made a new friend and tomorrow he'd be gone. I cocked my head at him. "How come you were all the way up here though? It's pretty far from the Forest."

[fizzy]

I looked at her, forgetting about acting like a proper dragon.
"Yeah, I'm a bit curious sometimes," I said, "Sometimes too curious for my own good,"
"Well, the forest caves are just like these really, but much darker and surrounded by trees,"
It felt good, talking to Ezzy. She was so nice.
"Thanks for letting me sleep," I frowned at the thought of disappearing in the morning and probably never seeing Ezzy again. I choked at the thought.

[Immortal]

*pops in*
(Peanut Ezzy is now the second in command dragon for the Light Fields)

I smiled at Jertinus. It was cool to have a friend here. "No problem," I said to him. I wasn't the sort of dragon to turn someone away, especially knowing how lonely it got up here in the mountains. "Wanna see something cool?" I asked him. I was a show off, but then again so was almost every other Light Dragon I knew. The corner of my mouth turned up in a cheeky grin again.

(Awesome =] She might have to be related somehow to the clan leader though...Coz she's really young, so she probably wouldn't have earned the position )

*still in* (good idea just say that Jackel (the leader) is her dad or something like that cause if she had a lot of power he would give her it incase something happened to him )

"Alright!" I grinned openly, wanting, needing to be friends with her.

I grinned. "Follow me," I said, walking until I found a creek dancing with fish. I glanced at Jertinus, then looked back at the creek. I sent a jolt of electricity into the water, not enough to hurt the fish but enough to make them jump. They arced out of the water, and as they did I sent more sparks to crackle between them, sizzling the droplets of water flying off the fish. I got bored a lot, so I found a lot of ways to entertain myself. I cackled with glee and dropped to my stomach, watching the fish leap out of the water and then be shrouded in misty water drops. It was weird, but I thought it was quite pretty too. I settled back and then looked at Jertinus, wondering what he would think.

I sat by hiding watching Ezzy mess with the fish and show off for the forest dragon that had gotten lost up here, I chuckled lightly at what she was doing, I didn't feel like showing myself just yet I just wanted to watch them for a while, I was amussed with her little antics, I whipped my tail from side to side and laughed lightly to myself again.

I grinned as she sent electricity into the fish. It was really funny and I laughed a bit as the fish ame out.

"That's cool," I said, "You've got awesome powers!"

I smiled smugly. "They're not that cool," I said, although I definitely thought that they were. "What can you do?" I asked Jertinus curiously, cocking my head to one side. I rolled my shoulders to loosen up my muscles, and I yawned. I stopped tormenting the fish, and then I stopped and listened. I could have sworn I heard a familiar laugh. I looked around, but saw no one. I shook my head and turned back to Jertinus, wondering what his powers would be. I flexed my wings as I waited, letting the sun shine on them and warm my body. The daylight would be fading soon, and being so high up in the mountains, it got deadly cold at night. I lay down and looked at the creek, watching the fish slowly recover from their ordeal. I considered shocking them again, but decided against it. I cocked an eyebrow at Jertinus while I thought about the laugh that I'd heard. There weren't that many hiding spots around here, and if I heard anyhting else, I'd find whoever it was that was hiding.

I almost told her about all my powers before remembering that they were specific to different breeds and that she would realise I was mixed breeds. It's not that I didn't want her to know, it was the fact that I'd heard clearly a familiar laugh but one that I had not heard before. For all I knew, it could have been Shadow, Craz or their werewolf pal, so I kept it to myself and went with the one that would be most convincing.
"I am agile and fast," I told her, "I can make plants grow at twice the usual speed."
I didn't sound proud when I said it, in fact, I probably sounded a bit dissapointed from not being able to tell her about my true powers as I wanted her to know. I wanted her to like me.

I chuckled lightly at Ezzy saying she didn't think the fish thing was cool, I knew she was just bored, raising to my feet and shacking off lightly and lumbering over the Ezzy and the lost dragon "hello Ezzy" I said dropping down on my belly Ezzy wasn't the only one who got bored up here, and then raising my golden eyes to this new dragon "hello I'm Jackel" I said my gloden scales would possably blind him if I was in the direct sunlight.

I grinned at Jertinus. "That's cool!" I said. I was so used to just seeing lightning that making plants grow was awesome. "Can you show me the plant thing?" I smiled excitedly. I didn't say anything about the way he'd said it. I didn't understand how he could be disappointed in being able to do something that cool. I raised my head when I heard the laugh again. This time, I knew exactly who it was, and I grinned when he came and lay next to me. "Hello father!" I smiled. I nudged him with a talon. "Dad, this is Jertinus!" I said with a grin. "He's staying here tonight in the caves," I explained.

I purred lightly at least that's what it sounded like "yes I saw him wandering around here eariler today and figured youd find him before long" I said to her resting my chine on my crossed feet, "and yes I haerd him ask to stay here and I think this will be the perfect time for you get off this mountian you show him the way down tomorrow" I said grinning, I looked more like a chinaes dragon then any other typ.

I smiled at her, happy that I could show off to her.
"Yeah sure, here" I said, making a nearby seedling grow up high, quickly. It was cool, even if I say so myself.
"Hey!" I said to the new dragon. I didn't reckognise him so I supposed that he must have been a light dragon.

I grinned at the plant that Jertinus grew. "Wow!" I exclaimed. I studied the plant. "That's awesome," I said. I was super impressed. I grinned at Jertinus, then looked to my dad and nodded. "So...You're basically giving me permission to leave the mountain for a day?" I asked. "Wicked!" I looked back and forth between Jertinus and my dad. "This is my Dad, by the way," I laughed to Jertinus. "He leads the Light Dragons." I smiled proudly at my father. There might not be a huge amount of light dragons, but my dad did an awesome job of being the clan leader. I looked up and noticed the light rapidly fading. I hadn't realised just how tired I was, and I barely managed to stifle a yawn. "Maybe we should head up to the caves now," I suggested. I stood up and flexed my legs, shaking them back into action. I had the timgles of pins and needles in my shoulder, and I rolled it a few times to wake it up.

I purred lightly and laughed at Ezzy's reaction for permission to leave the mountain "yes you can leave for the day to take him home, since there is nothing to do up here anymore" I said. I stood up and streached and flushed my wings with blood to make my body warmer, I then whipped my tail around a few times. I looked at the sun the Darkness Dragons didn't come this far up because there was nothing up here, there was no way for anything to come into the Kingdom from up here so they just stayed down bellow. I nodded to Jertinus "nice to meet you by the way I'm Jackel" I said bowing my head slightly never taking my eyes off of his, to use not making eye contact meant weakness and there was no way I was a weakling. I looked him up and down "your not just Earth Dragon are you? I have never seen one that wasn't some sort of gray, brown, green or a mix of those colors" I said looking at him for a moment I had no issues with mix breeds I just wanted to know if he was one or not. "yes Ezzy let's head to the caves" I said waiting for her and Jertinus.

I grinned at my dad and nodded, watching while he talked to Jertinus. "Daaaad!" exclaimed. I couldn't believe what he'd just said! But then I looked at Jertinus, and realised my dad was right. I waited to see how Jertinus would respond. I nodded slightly to my father and started walking slowly in the direction of the caves. I tried to walk and listen at the same time; I really wanted to hear what Jertinus had to say to my father.

I looked at Ezzy "whaaat?" I said to her and then grinned "it was a valid question" I said with a shrug.
